Standard session fee: $240 per session.

Medicare & Mental Health Care Plans

If you have a valid Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) and referral from your GP, you may be able to claim a Medicare rebate for eligible sessions. As a general psychologist, the Medicare rebate is currently $101.55 per eligible session.

Under a Mental Health Care Plan, you're entitled to up to 10 individually rebated sessions per calendar year, accessed in two blocks: an initial GP referral for up to 6 sessions, followed by a GP review to approve the remaining 4 sessions.

Gap fee

The gap fee is the difference between the session fee and the Medicare rebate you receive — this is the out-of-pocket amount payable by you. Based on the current session fee and rebate, this comes to$138.45 per session after your Medicare rebate is applied.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral?

A referral and Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP are needed if you want to claim a Medicare rebate. Without one, you can still see Sage privately, without a referral.

Are you accepting new clients?

Yes — Sage is currently accepting new clients, and would love to hear from you.

What if I'm not sure how to explain what's wrong?

That's okay — you don't need to have it figured out. The enquiry form and initial call are a starting point, not a test.

How do sessions work online?

Sessions are held by secure video call. See the telehealth page for full details on what you need and how it works.

What's your cancellation policy?

Payment is required before each session. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 24 hours' notice so you're eligible for a refund.

Is this confidential?

Yes. Sessions are confidential, with the limited exceptions required by law (such as risk of serious harm). This is explained fully during your first session.

What if I'm in crisis?

This service is not a crisis or emergency service. In an emergency, call 000. For urgent support, call Lifeline on 13 11 14.
